“Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to one or more terrifying events that threatened or caused grave physical harm and/or loss of life.”
PTSD is becoming known as “The unseen injury” or more popular with our media “The ticking time bomb of military mental health”. A PTSD sufferer lives in his or her own private hell, constantly reliving the original incident(s). Their family can suffer “Vicarious Traumatisation”, just as the primary sufferer is living in their own private hell, it can also be impossible to live with that person. This can have devastating effects on the whole family. The families are often forgotten. Families will start to question whether they are doing the right thing and choose to put space between them and the primary sufferer. To see your loved one go out to a field of conflict and come back “a different person” can lead to all sorts of emotional strife.
Our objective is to help stop the devastation of PTSD from breaking down a family and help ALL the victims of PTSD.
